Low tide…can you see the rip?

This is the final month of the Phillip Island theme and once again it’s back to Woolamai Beach. Have a look at the July 2026 Rip of the Month and then look at this picture. It’s the same rip current, but taken from a very different perspective. Can you see it? It’s the small dark green gap of water in the middle of the picture. The picture was taken just above beach level and shows the rip from the side and it’s not nearly as obvious as the July 2026 picture taken from much higher up. It’s always easier to spot rips from elevation. Something worth thinking about next time you go to the beach.

Having emphasised how dangerous the beaches are on Phillip Island, I was impressed by the beauty of the coastline and the area in general. I highly recommend a visit…just think twice (or more) about swimming.
